Terms of Service
Effective date: May 29, 2026
Skipit is a free, open-source service that helps you skip unwanted content (nudity, sex, and gore) on Netflix. These terms apply to the Skipit web app at getskipit.com, the Skipit Chrome browser extension, our APIs, and any related Skipit services. By using Skipit, you agree to these terms.
The Service
Skipit provides community-driven skip timestamps for Netflix content. The browser extension interacts with Netflix's video player to automatically skip scenes based on your preferences. The web app lets you browse content, submit timestamps, and vote on skip accuracy. Skipit is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to Netflix in any way.
Your Account
You have one account that works across both the web app and the browser extension. You sign in through Clerk using Google or another supported sign-in method. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account. You must keep your account credentials, authentication cookies, session tokens, session IDs, API tokens, and similar security credentials confidential.
Do not copy, export, publish, sell, share, or enter your Skipit credentials, authentication cookies, Clerk session values, session IDs, browser storage values, or API tokens into any third-party app, script, dashboard, bot, repository, or configuration file. Skipit will never ask you to copy these values from Developer Tools. If a third-party tool asks for them, do not provide them.
Eligibility
Skipit is not directed to children under 13. By using Skipit, you represent that you are at least 13 years old or that you are using Skipit with permission from a parent or legal guardian.
Community Contributions
When you submit timestamps or vote on skip groups, your contributions become part of the community dataset. Timestamps are clustered into skip groups and verified through community consensus. Your reputation score and trust tier are determined by the accuracy of your contributions and your voting patterns.
You keep any rights you may have in the timestamps and other content you submit, but you grant Skipit a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, copy, modify, cluster, verify, display, distribute, remove, and otherwise use your submissions to operate, protect, improve, and promote Skipit.
Acceptable Use
When using Skipit, you agree not to:
- Submit intentionally inaccurate timestamps
- Manipulate the voting or reputation system
- Abuse the service to disrupt other users' experience
- Use automated tools to submit timestamps or votes
- Access Skipit through unofficial clients, bots, scripts, dashboards, or integrations without our written permission
- Scrape, bulk download, mirror, cache, resell, sublicense, or redistribute Skipit skip data outside the official Skipit service
- Reverse engineer, bypass, or misuse the API beyond normal extension and web app use
- Bypass authentication, rate limits, extension checks, security controls, or access restrictions
- Ask other users to provide their cookies, tokens, session IDs, or other Skipit security credentials
- Publish instructions that encourage users to extract or share Skipit authentication credentials
Official Clients and Integrations
Skipit is designed to be used through the official Skipit web app and the official Skipit browser extension. Third-party integrations, companion apps, API clients, automation tools, and data exports are not authorized unless we approve them in writing. Open-source access to Skipit code does not grant permission to scrape, copy, mirror, redistribute, or commercially exploit the Skipit service, API, user accounts, or community timestamp database.
Content and Accuracy
Skip timestamps are community-generated and may not be perfectly accurate. Skipit does not guarantee that all unwanted content will be skipped. We are not responsible for content that is missed or incorrectly flagged.
Intellectual Property
Skipit is open-source. When you submit timestamps, they are contributed to the community for everyone's benefit. Skipit does not claim ownership of Netflix content. All movie and TV show metadata displayed on Skipit is provided by TMDB (The Movie Database). This product uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed, certified, or otherwise approved by TMDB.
Third-Party Services
Skipit relies on the following third-party services to operate:
- Clerk for authentication
- Supabase for database hosting
- Umami for privacy-conscious web analytics
- TMDB for movie and TV show metadata
Your use of Skipit is also subject to Netflix's own terms of service.
Security and Enforcement
We may monitor requests, limit access, revoke sessions, block traffic, suspend accounts, remove contributions, or terminate access when we believe it is necessary to protect users, prevent abuse, enforce these terms, or maintain the reliability of Skipit. We may also contact or report third parties that ask users to share Skipit credentials or that access Skipit without authorization.
Disclaimer of Warranties
Skipit is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We do not guarantee uninterrupted service, perfect skip accuracy, or compatibility with future Netflix updates.
Limitation of Liability
Skipit is a free service. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any damages arising from your use of the service, including but not limited to inaccurate skips, missed content, or service interruptions.
Account Termination
You can request account deletion by contacting us. When your account is deleted, we delete or de-identify your account data, including your timestamp submissions, votes, reputation record, and profile, except where we need to retain limited records for security, abuse prevention, legal compliance, backups, or dispute resolution. We may also suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.
Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will notify users through the web app. Continued use of Skipit after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
