Alien Watch Order

Alien plays best in release order, because the 1979 original and Aliens define the creature before the prequels try to explain its origins. Chronological order starts with Prometheus and Covenant, then loops back to the original films, with Romulus fitting between Alien and Aliens. For the intended scares, watch by release date.

Release order follows the real-world dates the films came out. It is usually the safest choice for a first watch, because every reveal, cameo, and callback lands the way audiences experienced it at the time.
