Watch Order Generator
DC (DCEU) Watch Order
Watch DC Extended Universe in release order, starting with Man of Steel (2013) and finishing with Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom (2023). In story order you would start with Wonder Woman (2017) instead. All 14 films run about 31 hours in total.

Release order keeps every twist and reveal intact. Best for a first watch.

1.Man of Steel
2013 · 2h 23m
The launch point for this continuity, retelling Superman's origin and setting its serious tone.

2.Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice
2016 · 2h 32m
A direct follow-up that adds Batman and Wonder Woman and begins assembling the wider league.

3.Suicide Squad
2016 · 2h 2m
A villain-team side story that introduces Harley Quinn and Deadshot to this universe.

4.Wonder Woman
2017 · 2h 21m
A period origin story, released to flesh out Diana between her two modern-day appearances.

5.Justice League
2017 · 2h
The big team-up, and the film that finally brings Flash, Cyborg and Aquaman into the fold.

6.Aquaman
2018 · 2h 23m
Arthur Curry's solo debut, largely self-contained apart from a nod to the league's formation.

7.Shazam!
2019 · 2h 12m
A lighter, family-friendly entry that stands almost entirely apart from the main saga.

8.Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn)
2020 · 1h 49m
A Harley Quinn spinoff following Suicide Squad, watchable without much else from the universe.

9.Wonder Woman 1984
2020 · 2h 31m
A period sequel to the first Wonder Woman that sits apart from the league's ongoing story.

10.The Suicide Squad
2021 · 2h 12m
A soft reboot of the squad with a new roster, so the 2016 film is not required first.

11.Black Adam
2022 · 2h 5m
A standalone entry connected to the Shazam corner of the universe rather than to the league.

12.Shazam! Fury of the Gods
2023 · 2h 10m
The sequel to Shazam!, continuing that family's story with little tie to the wider films.

13.The Flash
2023 · 2h 24m
A multiverse story that leans on Man of Steel and Justice League and resets the continuity.

14.Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom
2023 · 2h 4m
The last film of this universe, following on directly from the first Aquaman.
Which order is right for you
Release order vs story order
The DCEU works best in release order, since the shared-universe crossovers assume you have met each hero already. Only the two period-set Wonder Woman films sit earlier in the timeline, so chronological order just moves those to the front. We recommend release order.
Release order follows the real-world dates the films came out. It is usually the safest choice for a first watch, because every reveal, cameo, and callback lands the way audiences experienced it at the time.
Story order follows the in-universe timeline instead, so prequels and period-set entries jump forward in the list. For DC Extended Universe that means starting with Wonder Woman (2017) rather than Man of Steel (2013). Switching orders moves 9 of the 14 titles. It is a good second pass once you already know the saga.
