Which order is right for you
Release order vs story order
Predator is best watched in release order, since the 1987 original defines the hunter before the series jumps around in time. Chronological order starts with Prey, set in 1719, making it the earliest hunt. For the intended build-up, watch by release date.
Release order follows the real-world dates the films came out. It is usually the safest choice for a first watch, because every reveal, cameo, and callback lands the way audiences experienced it at the time.
Story order follows the in-universe timeline instead, so prequels and period-set entries jump forward in the list. For Predator that means starting with Prey (2022) rather than Predator (1987). Switching orders moves 5 of the 6 titles. It is a good second pass once you already know the saga.
